2008 Storm Chases

Pretty much a bust for the first chase of 2008 for me. I was able to turn it into a vacation though and visit the family over the weekend. |

Caught a few nice thunderstorms on the first real plains chase of the year. Storms fired up and down the dryline in western/southwestern OK and we intercepted a tornado warned supercell that was very close to producing a tornado but never did. |

Me and Cassie ventured out to Woodward, OK early and watched things unfold. A storm went up right on top of us about 4:30pm and we followed it north and then east across Woods and Alfalfa counties. |

Sean Waugh, Brandon McClung, Levi, and me ventured to western north TX and intercepted three nice storms today; two of which were tornado warned. |

A few storms fired along a cold front and produced a couple of tornadoes in eastern Oklahoma. I drove east from Norman few miles to get some structure shots. |

Caught a nice supercell south of Cordell, OK that had impressive structure and large hail. | |

Brandon McClung and I got on a few nice cells in se OK and encountered more large hail. Intercepted a few tornado warned storms that just couldn't produce. |

Cassie, Jeremiah, Brandon and I witnessed a few severe storms in north central Texas which produced very large hail and displayed nice structure at times. |

Brandon McClung, Sean Waugh, Cassie Wingate and I observed a large tornado near Electra, TX that was severely rain-wrapped. (2 tornadoes) | |

Me and Brandon cased in Texas again and had a frustrating day but were very near the Breckenridge tornado when it occurred, not seeing it because of rain obscuring the view. |

Me and Sean got on a few marginally severe storms in central Oklahoma. |

A nice supercell went up just south of Norman. I tried a few night-time shots on this storm. |

Great structure on 2 tornadic supercells and one large tornado south of Lamesa, TX made this an unforgettable chase day. (1 tornado) | |

Clear Sky bust. We went all the way to Hays, KS but ended up bailing out on the northern tartget to drop south and get a sun burn. Only fitting the day after a great day. |
